Autumn Winter Trend Round Up ♥ 2014/15

It may seem to early to be thinking about Winter, or even Autumn but you may have noticed that Autumn Winter collections are currently launching everywhere. Obviously, you need to be in the know of the top trends this forthcoming season before buying your winter wardrobe. Look no further, these will all be revealed in my Autumn Winter trend round up right here ♥

BIG FUR

Is any winter season complete without fur? It’s stylish and practical, this season is all about texture so fur is the number texture for winter.

Fur trims and lining are a must, on biker jackets as seen by Emilio Pucci and Oscar De La Renta, big hoods by Dolce & Gabbana and then there’s the full on fur coats. Think colour blocking a la Prada, texturised shearling by Isabel Marant and then there’s the colours you would never dream of in fur, like the acid yellow fur coat that somehow looked so normal at the Burberry show.

VIBRANT HUES AND LOUD PRINTS

Now this could be done as two separate trends but here the key is to wear them together, this was represented so elegantly in the Thakoon show. Wear a loud electric or graphic print and layer it with an even louder accent colour, be it a scarf, draped knitwear or a skirt.

New York Fashion Week had hardly any colour and then once we got to Milan and Paris the likes of Dior and Balenciaga were showering us with vibrant pinks, greens and reds and here the trend was to mix them together. If you love colour, don’t put away your summer neons just yet as you can probably layer them up this winter. If you are more of a muted colours person, you can still mix loud monochrome prints as seen on the Diane Von Furstenberg catwalk. Wear matching prints, clashing prints, colourful prints or just vibrant pieces, it just has to be LOUD.

MODEL OFF DUTY LOOK

Some have called this trend Blending in and some Perfectly Boring, I like to call it the Model off Duty Look and if it has to be boring then Glamorously Boring.

This was a trend seen in all four cities, from New York right through to Paris. It’s easy, effortless and comfortable but still very chic. Knitwear is huge this winter, which is just as well as it tends to get a bit chilly! It’s not just the classic jumper though, we are talking knitted dresses worn under a knitted cardigan, knitted skirts worn with chunky knit scarves and even knitted trousers worn with a knitted tunic. It’s all about feeling warm and cosy, keeping it understated and looking like you just picked up your knitted duvet and threw it on with a belt.

60s

This season’s signature decade is the 60s, think dolly-bird dresses, a line skirts, retro prints (which tend to be loud so that works well) chunky knee-high boots and Edie Campbell style. Paris loved this look!

60s

I particularly love the understated 60s style taken on by Tom Ford, taking the 60s silhouette but stripping out the colour. This is definitely a legs out trend and when it gets a bit cold you can add tights easily…knitted ones obviously! Gucci’s take on the trend is using luxe leather a line skirts and Valentino keep it loud with printed tunic dresses.

FAIRYTALE LAND

Maybe it’s Maleficent that has got everyone in the fairytale mood, it’s got me feeling magical anyway! Therefore this is one of my most favourite trends, not necessarily the most wearable but in the land of fairytales wearability doesn’t really exist.

The whimsical prints from Burberry, the giant fur hoods, the floaty dresses and embellished capes creates a woodland fairytale adventure this winter. Little Red Riding Hood type capes in ruby red and embellished seem to be a favourite with Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino and Saint Laurent. There is a romantic feel to the prints and styles in this trend with sheer fabrics used for statement red carpet dresses.

So there you have it, my top five trends for Autumn Winter 2014/15. What will you be wearing? Look out for my post telling you which of these winter trends you can wear now…coming soon ♥
