Christmas in a Window 2013

Don’t you just love Christmas, the lights, the smell of roasted chestnuts, the Christmas songs, the cinematic television adverts and feeling like you star in your very own version of Love Actually…ok maybe that last one is just me!

I love taking a special trip to Knightsbridge just to see the Harrods and Harvey Nichols window displays and lights for Christmas and then Bond Street, Regent street and Oxford Street to see Selfridges and Hamleys. All the stores trying to capture the magical moments of Christmas in a window display. Take a look through the festive gallery and see some of the best London Christmas window displays.

As a true British brand Fortnum & Mason has the blend of Georgian style, elegance and the grace of festive spirit. Harvey Nicholls is never shy of vibrant window displays with splashes of colour, acting as a stain glassed window the glitzy windows display many stylist gift ideas for this season.

Over 500 hours were spent to create the carriages in the Harrods windows, inspired by the 1950s British steam train. Each carriage displays and presents a variety of gifts and the most expensive being the jewel embellished Ralph and Russo gown valued at £80,000. If you’re looking for more of a token gesture, baubles used in the lavish window displays are being sold for £3.95 in store. Mulberry are staying true to their roots and that of their winter campaign of an enchanted winter forest. The magical Mulberry tree, frozen lakes and enchanted woodland creatures have featured in Mulberry displays and the Harrods windows this year.

Using chrome surfaces, sharp edges and strong lighting, Liberty’s explosive window displays capture the excitement of pulling a cracker. The windows displays items which could only be found in the most luxury Christmas crackers (post coming up!) Ralph Lauren have gone for vintage glam this year, neutral colours on mannequins with deep browns and reds to set the backdrop for their window displays.

Selfridges‘ window displays have most certainly been talk of the town this year, with some iconic gift ideas oversized and placed in a winter landscape. I don’t know what it is that makes the Tiffany windows so magical, maybe the twinkle from the diamonds! I love the dim lights on a neighbourhood bringing all attention to the iconic aqua green box and sparkling jewellery ♥
