With just three weeks until Christmas, I believe most of you are in the midst of putting up trees, decorating them with lights and baubles, thinking about the best table arrangements for Christmas day and making your homes tastefully festive ♥
Whether you go for a more traditional look with reds, greens and white or break away from the norm and go for a contemporary festive boutique look, decorating your home for Christmas is a great way to get into the festive spirit and show off the style and personality of your family. So here are some festive decor ideas to get you into the Chrsitmas spirit…
First things first, tinsel is so last decade so put it away then read on! Pine cones and cinnamon sticks give a wonderful winter feeling to most colour themes and really compliment red and more traiditional looks. I have pine cones and cinnamon sticks in a fish bowl vase from Autumn onwards and simply add Christmas baubles in December.
Wish trees are a popular trend for weddings but also great for Christmas, they can act as a modern Christmas tree or even compliment your traditional tree as a centre piece for your Christmas table. For a home-made wish tree, simply gather twigs and arrange them in a vase. I sprayed the twigs with silver glitter spray for some added sparkle, but rustic brown twigs look just as good. Adding pine cones to the bottom of your vase adds an extra touch to the base rather than looking empty. Then decorate as you would with a traditional tree, mind the decorations aren’t too over bearing as the twig branches will bend.
Breaking away from traditional metallics such as silver and gold and adding black glitter and metallic grey can really give a modern twist to Christmas decorations. Other finishing touches include, black glitter stags (can be spray painted in any colour to suit your chosen theme), unique vases filled with metallic baubles in a variety of sizes and textures and a white Christmas tree bringing out the sparkle. Black and white pre-lit trees are becoming increasingly popular and can look very glamourous. Obviously adding your own lights to pre-lit trees is optional but I would say, the more light the better ♥
One final festive touch I must share with you for the big day, either for unique gift tag ideas or table seating arrangements.
Using a bauble, glittered pine cone (or plain) simply tie a name tag with ribbon and voila…you are a glamorous festive genius. Adds a lovely sparkly touch to your table…after all Christmas is all about sparkle ♥
So there it is, I’m ready for Christmas…it’s only under the tree that looks bare ♥
