Indian Weddings don’t Travel Light ♥

Last year, I went to the US for my cousin’s wedding reception when Baby A was around 10 months old. Now, for those of you that are not familiar with Asian weddings…they are HUGE! This was just the reception so it was a ‘toned down’ affair with only 600-700 guests plus a couple of pre-wedding parties during the week leading up to the event. I generally am not one to travel light, for my honeymoon I took around 5 or 6 pairs of flip-flops, 14 bikinis (one for each day obviously!) around 4 pairs of heels and at least two outfits per day for a 2 week holiday in the Maldives. I am always that girl who struggles to squeeze everything back into my suitcase when packing to come home as I have shopped over my baggage allowance, then having to carrying the heaviest hand luggage as my check in bag was over weight! Does this sound familiar ladies??

Bearing in mind the above scenario, now add a baby and all their luggage plus three indian outfits consisting of heavy saris, matching accessories and shoes for a wedding reception and pre weddings parties. I was also taking across some wedding decor items to decorate the reception venue so I was transporting an exceptional amount of baggage to the US.

If only I had known about shipping services that are available for individuals like me. I could have packed my wedding wardrobe, along with the accessories and decor items. I also would have packed party pieces for Baby A along with toys, nappies and milk supplies and then once the wedding part of our trip was over I could have easily shipped it all back home (along with some outlet shopping!) I then could have relaxed on my last night in New York rather than frantically trying to fit everything into my suitcase, Baby A’s suitcase, the husband’s suitcase and any other family member that was travelling back.

Imagine the ease of having all your asian wedding packing sent to the destination of your choice 2-3 weeks before you have to be there so it’s done!

Obviously, with all the packing and luggage issues aside we had a fabulous time at the wedding reception and throughout the whole trip. I wish I had known about Seven Seas Worldwide at the time of the trip, I would have dropped off packing supplies to my home before texting to let me know a time beforehand (how polite!) and then picked it all up once it’s ready to go, shipping it off at the other end.

For the next family wedding, I will definitely be shipping our wedding wardrobes over beforehand and I’m sure all the US family who are coming to the UK for the next big wedding next year will be shipping their essentials over here ♥
