The season ahead is looking very bright with so many hues of Yellow, which sings summer like no other colour. It’s a colour I usually shy away from but looking at all the catwalks I slowly see quite a bit of yellow creeping into my wardrobe for Spring Summer 2015. With the weather being so cold outside, it’s hard to imagine that we are in the Spring Summer season so to get us all in the mood for the current season here is my Spring Summer Trend round-up ♥
70s Boho – Every season has a decade and this season it’s the 70s, fringing, floppy hats and flares along with clashing florals, boho dresses and crochet seen by the likes of Saint Laurent, Roberto Cavalli and Chloe.
Summer Suede – This season’s suede comes in buttery soft pastel hues and classic tan, some designers such as Gucci and Chanel have gone for darker red and khaki shades but the majority seem to be loving soft pinks and lilacs. This trend sits well with the 70s vibe a la Chloe and Alberta Ferrati.
Denim – For me, denim is a classic all year rounder but this season everything comes in denim from dresses and skirts to accessories and Burberry’s trench updated with…yes denim. Stella McCartney and Gucci have taken the denim shirt and made it into a shirt dress, whilst Alberta Ferrarti has added delicate sheer fabrics and cut-out detailing to denim for a feminine touch.
Aqua Stories – There seems to be a substantial amount of design influence from under the sea, carried through in fabrics such as mesh and shimmer seen by Rodarte, aqua blue tones and fish prints seen by Valentino. Ellie Saab’s fabrics and detailing resemble the waves, Giorgio Armani and used shimmer mesh fabrics to give the illusion of sea creatures and Emilio Pucci and Matthew Williamson used water colour effect prints with mermaid skirts. This trend is also perfect to bring back a bit of Nautical as seen by Michael Kors and Lanvin.
Modern Day Ballerina – This look is pretty and polished, influenced by fabrics worn by dancers, the kind of fabrics that swoop as you walk. Using tulle in blush pinks for skirts and dresses is a given but updating the classic Burberry trench coat in tulle on the Burberry catwalk and using bright pink and khaki floor length tutus as seen by Ralph Lauren gives that added red carpet glamour.
Romantic Lace – if you love lace then you will love the next trend! White lace is everywhere this season, dresses, skirts, shorts and tops with applique, beading or cut-out. There’s just one rule, legs need to be bare!
Sheer Black – This season’s black is sheer, lots of fabrics and layers of it but sheer and sexy. This is a trend seen on almost every catwalk from New York to Paris.
The New Silhouette – Wear a slim fit tunic over flared trousers, the new slim fit tunic controls the flared trousers and big skirts giving a bit of a fishtail silhouette. Seen by Stella McCartney, Gucci and Loewe but to name a few.
Sunny Yellow – The colour of the season has to be yellow, the designers have been loving it! Starting with lemon hues seen by Matthew Williamson right through to bright yellow and mustard tones seen by Chloe. There is a shade of yellow for everyone so take your pick, choose prints as seen by Diane Von Furstenberg, applique detailing seen by Michael Kors or summer coats as seen by Ralph Lauren.
Of course to compliment these trends Monochrome makes a come back for summer, along with key wardrobe staples for the season such as jumpsuits and shirt dresses. Khaki has also been seen by the likes of Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren and Gucci.
