A huge trend for Spring Summer 2014 is metallics, seen by Oscar de la Renta, Dior, Emilio Pucci and so many more. Dresses, playsuits, trousers, blazers and of course accessories all took on the shine and glitz of the metallic trend. Whether it’s through embellishment, foil fabrics or metallic threads almost every designer added a touch of metallic and shine to many of their outfits, from Givenchy and Lanvin to Rochas and Vivienne Westwood.
This season it’s not just the usual shimmering silvers and golden tones, it’s about using iridescents a la March Jacobs and Tom Ford and more importantly, colours as seen by Emilio Pucci and Haider Ackmann. This is a trend that screams glamour, but it is not to be left for the evening or special occasions. This trend wants to shimmer in the sunlight, so it’s about incorporating metallics and shine into your everyday wardrobe. Wear it with subdued pastels, use accessories for soft metallic accents and then for the evening go full on with embellishment, coloured metallics and shiny leather pieces as seen on the Phillip Lim catwalk.
