Oh I do love a fashion designer for charity collaboration! This one includes 29 of the world’s top fashion designers so it is something to rave about. Our much loved classic Pudsey Bear who first appeared in 1985 for the Children in Need appeal, is getting a fashion makeover…not just once but 29 times! Well I say 29, but fashion label Balenciaga has given him a floral print design for four seasons. The likes of Tom Ford, Victoria Beckam and Burberry but to name a few have been asked to makeover the classic Pudsey eye patch and all. All the designer bear makeovers have their own take on the makeover, some with the signature look and heritage of the designer label – Burberry Pudsey wears the classic trench coat while the Gucci Pudsey goes for the equestrian look. While, other designers such as Victoria Beckham and Vivienne Westwood have just had a bit of fun with cross dressing and galactic prints.
The collection of bears are exhibited at Selfridges, London and Manchester until the 14th of November and will then go on to be sold at auction. I can’t decide which one is my favourite, I am thrown between the Alexander McQueen Pudsey (confetti sewn on blush coloured fur) and Diane Von Furstenberg’s Pudsey (the classic monochrome). Either way, the collection as a whole looks fabulous and is bound to raise increased awareness and support for the Children in Need ongoing campaign ❤
